Pulling away from a string of injuries since her debut in the 2008 Beijing Olympics, University of Michigan and Flint Powers Catholic alum Ellen Tomek clinched a spot on her second U.S. Olympic team on Sunday.

Recovering from stress fractures to her ribs, Tomek fell short of making the team for the 2012 London Olympics. After winning the U.S. Olympic trials in Sarasota on Sunday, she and partner Meghan O’Leary will compete in the double scull event in the 2016 Summer Olympics in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil.
