Powers Catholic High School
Davison High School
In early season girls’ swim action, Powers defeated Kearsley 127-49, and lost to Saginaw Heritage 120-65. In a Saginaw Valley double-dual meet Tuesday night at Kearsley versus Davison and Mt. Pleasant, Powers beat Davison 95-90, but lost to Mt. Pleasant 96.5-85.5. Interestingly, Davison beat Mt. Pleasant 99-87 in a bit of scoring quirkiness.
Powers 200 Medley Relay, and 200 Freestyle Relay teams have led the way for the Chargers so far this season. The 200 MR team of freshman Hannah Murawski, junior Allie Dasky, and seniors Sydney Lawrence and Sarah Kirtek have not yet lost a race and are quickly closing in on a State Meet qualification time. Likewise, the 200 FR team of Dasky, Lawrence, Kirtek, and senior Kristin Ammerman are also undefeated on the year.
Senior co-captain Sarah Kirtek has had good success early this season in her individual events. In 8 starts, Kirtek has only been beaten to the wall one time. Kirtek has already qualified for the State Meet in the 100 Butterfly, and is closing in on cuts in the 100 Breaststroke and 200 Individual Medley. Junior Allie Dasky has been a contender all season long in the 50 and 100 year freestyle sprint events. She too, is looking to earn her State Meet cuts in those events very soon. An underclassman has also made a splash for the Chargers early this season. Freshman Hannah Murawski has earned 100 Backstroke victories in 3 of 4 meets thus far, and won the 500 Free in her first high school tilt versus Kearsley.
Powers heads to Fenton Thursday for a non-conference meet against the Tigers.
