Coming off fine performances in the County Meet, Powers senior co-captain Sarah Kirtek, and junior Allie Dasky each had two outright wins in a double-dual meet against Holly and Swartz Creek/Flushing held at Holly High School Tuesday evening. First-year head coach Robbie Rariden mixed things up a bit by having his swimmers race in events they don’t typically swim. It worked out well, with Powers edging SCF 98-81, and defeating host, Holly, 118-66.
The evening began with the 200 Medley Relay team of frosh Hannah Murawski, Kirtek, senior Sydney Lawrence, and Dasky taking first (2:08.91). Dasky then went right back to the blocks and won the 200 Free (2:08.12), with teammate senior Kadie Sardo finishing second. Two events later, Dasky also won the 50 Free (26.92).
Kirtek and Lawrence finished one-two in the 500 Free. Kirtek’s first 500 of the season was swum in a solid time of 5:42.63. Kirtek warmed-down quickly before turning around and winning the 100 Breaststroke (1:19.56). Senior co-captain Kristin Ammerman was the outright winner of the 100 Free (1:04.63). Ammerman, Lawrence, Dasky, and senior Tessa Peabody also teamed up to win the 200 Free Relay (1:58.89).
Freshman Hannah Murawski beat Holly in the 100 Butterfly (1:16.67), and was the outright winner in the 100 Backstroke (1:11.08). Another freshman, diver Sam Snyder, earned her first career victory over Holly scoring 122.70 points.
The Chargers travel to Carman-Ainsworth Thursday for a Saginaw Valley League double-dual meet versus CA and Bay City Western.
