Powers senior co-captain Sarah Kirtek, and junior Allie Dasky each had two individual wins as the Chargers swam past Lapeer 119-55, and Bay City Central 123-52 in a Valley League double-dual meet held at Carman-Ainsworth Thursday evening.
The evening began with the host Chargers taking the top two spots in the 200 Medley Relay. Kirtek, Dasky, freshman Hannah Murawski, and senior Sydney Lawerence won the event in a time of 2:06.96. Two events later, Kirtek (2:28.45), senior co-captain Kristin Ammerman, and sophomore Fiona Caughey, swept the 200 Individual Medley. Dasky (26.70) and Lawrence followed with a one-two finish in the 50 Freestyle sprint.
The race of the night was the 100 Butterfly. Two of the best swimmers in the Saginaw Valley League in that event went head-to-head. When the waves had settled, the Chargers’ Sarah Kirtek (1:02.48) had out-touched Lapeer’s Sarah Thompson by 15/100’s of a second.
Powers sealed the deal in the next event. The Chargers’ Dasky (58.30), Ammerman, and Lawrence finished one-two-three in the 100 Free. Powers senior co-captain Tessa Peabody (1:23.76), and frosh Amber Dabbish followed with a one-two finish in the 100 Breaststroke. In the final event of the night, Kirtek, Lawrence, Ammerman, and Dasky won the 400 Freestyle Relay (4:03.08).
Next up for the Chargers is a trip to Midland next Thursday to take on Dow.
