Multiple Teams · Varsity Football Falls in Finale, Still Earns Playoff Bid

Powers Catholic concluded the regular season with a 42-7 loss at league champ Davison, yet the Chargers still qualified for the state tournament for the fifth time in the last six seasons.  Powers will play at Lake Fenton (probably Friday night) in the opening round of the Division 4 MHSAA Playoffs.

The Chargers held their own with the undefeated Cardinals, closing to 21-7 in the 3rd quarter behind a 29-yard reception by Donald Scott to the one-yard line.  Zack Talovich snuck in for the TD and Morgan Livingston added the extra point.  However, Powers got no closer and finished the regular season with a 5-4 record.  Scott led the offense with 4 catches for 51 yards.  Joey Zorn was in on 12 tackles and Kelson Connors returned from injury to make 5 tackles.  Andrew Simon added to his kicking exploits by drilling two more kick offs into the end zone for touchbacks and he boomed a 59-yard punt to flip field position in the 2nd quarter.

Players and coaches want to extend gratitude to our parents, fans, and supporters this season.  Thanks for sticking with us in this injury-riddled and cold/flu-sniffled season of transition.  We will keep fighting and improving until the end to earn your support and respect.
