Girls Varsity Swimming · Girls’ Swim Team Ready for SVL Championships

The girls’ swim team will travel to Saginaw Valley University Thursday to compete in the preliminaries of the Saginaw Valley League Swimming and Diving Championships.  Swimmers who finish in the top 16 will return to SVSU Saturday to compete in the finals.  Powers senior Sarah Kirtek is the defending SVL champion in the 100 Butterfly and 100 Breaststroke.

First-year swim coach Robbie Rariden is looking for some top finishes from his swimmers, and relay teams.  He believes the girls are ready.  “Everyone has come a long way from where we started. I think the girls are surprising themselves at how fast they are swimming, and that’s what it’s about.”

The preliminaries begin at 3pm Thursday at the Gerstacker Natatorium on the campus of SVSU.  Saturday’s finals will be held beginning at 12:00pm.
