Girls Varsity Swimming · Swimmers Ready for States

Sarah Kirtek, Allie Dasky, Sydney Lawrence, and Kristin Ammerman will be representing Powers at the Division 3 State Swimming and Diving Championship in Holland.  Preliminaries will begin Friday at noon at the Holland Community Aquatic Center.  Top-16 finishers will then compete in the finals on Saturday.

It is Kirtek’s 4th straight appearance at States.  She is qualified for the 200 Individual Medley, 500 Free, 100, Butterfly, and 100 Breaststroke, but can only swim two individual events.  This year she has chosen to swim the 100 Fly, and 100 Breast.

Allie Dasky also had a decision to make.  Dasky qualified for the 50, 100, and 200 Freestyle events.  She will be swimming the 50 and 100 sprints.  Teammate Sydney Lawrence also earned a spot in the prelims for the 50 Free.  In the league meet two weeks ago, Lawrence beat the qualifying time by 1/100 of a second.

Kirtek, Lawrence, and Dasky will join Kristin Ammerman to swim the 200 and 400 Freestyle Relays.  The four have a real shot at taking down the Powers school record which was set in 1995 by Nicole Knecht, Kelsey Rettenmund, Emily Walton, and Jacynda Smith.
