Boys Junior Varsity Wrestling, Boys Varsity Wrestling · Spidle Brothers Finish Season with All-State Honors

Sean Spidle

Sean Spidle had one goal entering his freshman season. Win a state title. This past weekend his goals became reality when he placed first in the Division 3, 103 pound weight class. The state finals match was a repeat of the regional finals where Hunter Assenmacher from Ida pulled out an overtime victory over Sean. Sean was able to handle the moment and come away with a 7-3 victory. He finishes his remarkable freshman season with a 39-3 record, leading the team in takedowns, points scored, pins and tech. falls.

Eric Spidle completed his junior year with a final record of 24-10, and ended an injury filled season with a 7th place finish at the 2017 D3 State Tournament. Eric showed great resiliency and determination as he pushed through illness the days leading up to and into the three long day tournament. With this season in the books Eric joins former Powers wrestler Cody Marcicki as the only two Powers wrestlers to be two time all-state wrestlers.

We are excited to call these remarkable¬†young men part of the Powers family as throughout the season they have showed tremendous sportsmanship, hard work and dedication to their sport, academics and faith. We look forward to seeing where next season takes them, the sky’s the limit!
