Spencer Lash sprinted home with the winning run in the top of the 7th to cap a three-run rally in Powers’ 4-3 game one win. Lash doubled home the two tying runs to erase a 3-1 Creek lead, and also picked up the win on the mound, but needed relief help from Zack Mazza who recorded a save.
In the nightcap, the Chargers jumped ahead with 4-run first, only to see the Dragons bounce back to knot the score after three frames. Powers answered with a 3-run fourth ignited by Chrisian Bender’s lead-off single, consecutive walks to Mazza and Connor Kilbourne. Back-to-back RBI singles by Lash and Matt Wikur– and a bases-loaded walk to Cam Conover plated the three runs. Nick Riley went four innings to pick up the win, but Joe Beauchamp and Wiskur added relief help over the final three innings (no earned runs) to secure the 7-5 victory.
Powers moves to 3-0 on the young season. The Chargers return to action after Easter, hosting Davison on Tuesday, April 18th, in the Saginaw Valley League doubleheader opener for both teams.
