Powers Catholic High School
A talented, experienced Midland team traveled to Atwood Stadium to face a young Powers Catholic team Tuesday evening for a battle of the SVL unbeatens. Midland proved to be the better team, taking care of Powers 23-8. Powers committed a number of penalties and couldn’t stop Midland when being a man or two down many times during the game. Midland also controlled the majority of the face offs. ” We started strong tonight but couldn’t keep it going” Powers Head Coach Matt Gregson said. ” They have a very talented team with a lot of weapons. We shut down one guy and they have many others that stepped up, our man down needs to improve but it’s hard when you’re a man down most of the second half, it seemed. We are going to put this one behind us, go to work and concentrate on Bay City Western Thursday night.” Gregson added. The Chargers were led in scoring by Miles Cramer with 4 goals. Fidel Carino and Zack Talovich each scored 2 goals. Ben Affica, Josh Warda & Talovich each dished 2 assists. Kelson Connors led Powers with 6 Ground Balls and forced 2 turnovers. Cramer and Carino scooped up 5 ground balls each and Connor Wilkie and Hunter Skarzynski each caused a turnover. The Chargers travel to Bay City Western Thursday evening for a very important SVL matchup which may determine second place.
