Game Recap

The Powers Catholic Men’s Varsity Lacrosse Team hosted the U of D Jesuit HS Wednesday evening at Atwood Stadium. The visiting Cubs proved to be the better team beating the Chargers 16-9.
The young Powers team came out tough in the first quarter hanging with the talented U of D squad, but the visiting team had a strong 6 goal second quarter that put Powers in a hole that they couldn’t dig out of.
” My men battled all night” said Powers Head Coach Matt Gregson. ” Nothing in life is easy, we never thought this season would be easy but I can tell you this is a much better squad today than it was 2 months ago. We made some mistakes, and you just can’t make mental mistakes to a team this talented.” Added Gregson.
Powers offensive attack was lead again by Miles Cramer with 3 goals, Fidel Carino, Zack Talovich & Josh Warda all netted 2 goals each. Cramer, Warda & Talovich all also found a open teammate twice each for assists.
Fidel Carino continues to have a strong Freshman campaign leading his team with 7 Ground Balls. Hunter Skarzynski dug out 6 Ground Balls and forced 2 turnovers. Zack Talovich forced 3 turnovers and Warda scooped up 5 GB’s in the offensive end.
Powers wraps up their regular season this Friday night at Grand Blanc to face the experienced Bobcats. Friday’s game is for a great cause (suicide awareness) The game is entitled ” Lax for Luke ” in memory of Luke Duncanson.
