Game Recap

Powers Catholic traveled to Pontiac Wednesday evening to take on Notre Dame Prep in the second round of the MHSAA playoffs. ND Prep knocked Powers Catholic out of the playoffs with a 15-11 win.
The Chargers started the game slow falling behind 8-0 very quickly but the character of this young team showed as they regrouped and battled back to make it a exciting playoff game. ” I’m so proud of my men” said Powers Head Coach Matt Gregson. ” This group of young men battled and never quit. We overcame some adversity and made incredible strides this season. We will work hard over the summer, start our weight program and you will see us back” added Gregson.
JV call ups Michael Wilson (FOGO) & Noah Gadola (G) were asked to step up and play like Seniors and they responded with great games.
Six Powers players were in scoring column led by Miles Cramer & Grant Morrison with 3 goals, Zack Talovich netted 2 and Josh Warda, Ben Affrica and Fidel Carino added 1.
Zack Talovich dished out 2 assists while Grant Morrison, Kelson Connors & Jack Hanchett each added a assist.
Hunter Skarzynski led the Powers Defense with 5 Ground Balls and 3 Forced Turnovers. Kelson Connors scooped up 4 Ground Balls and forced a turnover while guarding a tough D1 commit.
Gregson also wanted to thank Seniors Dan Charboneau, Peyton Beauchamp and Austin Willey for their dedication to the lacrosse program.
