Chargers News · Football Chargers Roll to 43-8 Homecoming Win

The varsity football team raced to a 43-0 halftime lead against the Flint Jaguars at Atwood Stadium in last Friday’s 49th  Homecoming game.  Quarterback Joe Beauchamp led the offense by running for 2 TD’s and tossing for 174 yards and a pair of TD passes. Luke Phillpotts snared a 56-yarder and Joe Zorn hauled in an 18-yard TD pass. Holden Warner recovered a fumble forced by Zorn, and later Warner found paydirt on a 3-yard run. Phillpotts added to the party with a 54-yard punt return TD.

Kyle Chalut drilled 5 extra points and Zorn added a 2-point conversion catch to complete the scoring.

Powers’ defense top tacklers were Colton Kidd, Luke Weishuhn, and Zorn as the defense surrendered only one touchdown. Additionally, Logan Murray pounced on a Jaguar fumble. For the most part, Charger defenders and kick coverage units hustled and harassed the Flint receivers, quarterback, and return men the entire night. It was a complete TEAM effort by every man on the roster.

Powers Catholic will take a 4-3 record into next Friday’s Atwood Stadium game against old rival, Grand Blanc. Game time, 7 pm.  Be there!
