Chargers News · Chargers back in the familiar territory entering Regionals on Tuesday

Powers Catholic enters this years Regional’s in familiar territory.  Last year the Chargers were in this same place with the field being Bridgeport, Ovid-Elsie, Freeland and Powers Catholic.  This year’s field will have 2 of the same teams with Bridgeport & Powers Catholic, the new crop to this years field is Alma & Essexville Garber.  On Tuesday Powers Catholic (11-11) will take on Garber (10-12) in the first game at 6:00 PM, Bridgeport (22-0) & Alma (17-3) will follow up the first game at 7:30 PM.  Essexville Garber comes into the game after beating Freeland in the District title game on Friday, while Powers Catholic beat Corunna.  Bridgeport who is undefeated on the year is coming off a win vs Frankenmuth in their District Final game & Alma beat Central Montclam in their District Final.  All games will take place at Alma High School.

Last year the champion was Bridgeport as they beat Powers Catholic 86-72 in the Regional final game.  Bridgeport went on to play New Haven in the quarterfinals.  The quarterfinals will be in Mt. Pleasant this year and the winner of this regional will play the winner of the gaylord regional.
