Boys Varsity Wrestling · Wrestlers Finish Dual Season Strong

The wrestling team wrapped up their team dual portion this season finishing as District runner-ups behind Mt. Morris.

The first round of districts saw the Chargers eliminate the Bendle Tigers by a score of 36-12. Picking up voids, and six team points, for the team were Conner Owens at 145, Nick Armstrong at 285, Donny Haley at 152, and Andrew Campbell at 160. Sean Spidle continued his undefeated season picking up a fall in 1:36. Tristan Brenner and Gavin Osborn each won by decision, gutting out tough six minute matches. Both exemplified the hard work and conditioning needed to be successful. Final 36-12

In the districts finals against the heavily favored Mt. Morris the Chargers came out fighting, but ultimately came up short. The first two matches saw Haley fall in the first period and Campbell give it everything he had in a blood filled match to fall just short and lose a 9-6 decision. Brenner bumping up to 171 got the team back on track quickly scoring several takedowns and ending the match with a second period fall. Armstrong would be the last to wrestle on the day and suffer a second period fall. The dual finished with Mt. Morris voiding our top wrestlers, Spidle and Owens, who each picked up six team points. Final 24-57

The team looks to the individual portion of the post season as they prepare for individual districts this coming Saturday at Montrose.

A special shout out to all those that came and supported the team, especially all the parents, our great yearbook photographer and Coach Kidd.
