Chargers News · Fall Athletic Information

We continue to hope and pray that each of you are doing well and keeping a healthy spirit and attitude on current world events.

I would like introduce our new athletic department administrative assistant, Jenifer Freel.  Jenifer comes to Powers after a lengthy career of service as a Senior Administrative Assistant.   Jenifer is very familiar with Powers Catholic and brings a strong vision and energy to her new position (Welcome Jenifer).

My administrative assistant of the last two years, Lisa Tuttle, is moving to a new position within the Powers Catholic family as our new administrative assistant in our Counseling and Guidance office (Congratulations Lisa).

As we draw closer to this coming school year and athletic season we wanted to provide you with the most updated information on physicals that we could.  During this Covid-19 pandemic, the MHSAA has made some concessions regarding physicals needed to participate in high school athletics.

All returning Powers students who had a physical on file at Powers last year dated on or after April 15th, 2019, will not need a new physical for this school year.   You will be required to submit a completed 2020 health questionnaire to the Athletic Office in order to receive a tryout card this year.    You can find the links to these form below.  If you do not have a physical on file with us from last year, you will need to submit a completed physical dated on or after April 15th, 2020.

Any new student (incoming freshman or transfer student) that has a completed physical dated on or after April 15th, 2019 from their previous school, may submit a copy of this physical along with a completed 2020 health questionnaire to participate in athletics here at Powers.    These forms will need to be submitted in order to receive a tryout card, which is needed to start practicing when the sports season officially begins.

Unfortunately, due to the pandemic, we are not able to offer sports physicals here at Powers this year.

The athletic office will be collecting physicals / health questionnaires and giving out tryout cards in the athletic office on the following days:

Monday, Aug 3 – Friday, Aug 7     8:00am – 2:00pm

Monday, Aug 10     8:00am – 3:30pm

Tuesday, Aug 11     8:00am – 2:00pm

Wednesday, Aug 12          8:00am – 3:30pm

Thursday, Aug 13   8:00am – 3:00pm

Please remember that a completed form means that all sections have been filled out and parents have signed in all designated areas (regardless of student age).

We should know very shortly what the MHSAA plan will be for high school athletics this fall. We are excited to see our students back in school and being active in all school activities.
