Chargers News · Baseball Practice Resumes on Monday, April 5th & COVID Testing Program Info

All healthy Powers Baseball players are urged to return to practice on Monday, April 5th. We will work out and take care of pre-season details, so expect to be at school from 3:30 to 6:30 p.m. Team pictures are scheduled for Tuesday, April 6th, so uniforms need to be distributed at the end of Monday’s workout. On top of that, we hope to play Linden on Wednesday, but this will depend on the number of players who can get ready and are cleared for play. Right now we are optimistic based on players coming off quarantine.

Powers Spring Sport athletes will participate in weekly testing for COVID symptoms at no cost. We need baseball parent email addresses so we can share important information about the testing program. Baseball Parents can email Coach Dutkowski at and he will be happy to share the information.

Players who have been at workouts have been working hard and improving. The coaches are grateful for the dedication and commitment the players have displayed. It’s been a lot of fun. However, we anticipate conditions for this season to be “in flux”; therefore, the JV and Varsity teams will practice together for the time being. We think we can field two solid teams, but it’s possible players may move between rosters week-to-week based on numbers of athletes cleared to play. The MHSAA is requiring the COVID testing: your son’s health is of primary importance. Being outside and mostly socially-distanced in baseball, we hope to play a full season, but we need to be diligent.

We need volunteers to run the scoreboard and PA system for home games this year. Any help will be appreciated. Let coaches know. On Monday we will ask your sons for thoughts on taking busses to games–one-way, two-way, and options to drive– because we need to send in our transportation request ASAP to our Athletic Department.

Thanks and stay in touch during this challenging time. PLAY BALL! Again, feel free to contact Coach Dutkowski at
