Regionals were conducted a little differently this year because of covid. In order for us to have a season every thing had to be team based and not flight based. This means we had to win as team to continue on and there were no points awarded. For example, we had to beat Lakewood by winning matches like 6-2 or 5-3. We got lucky because they only had 5 flights and defaulted 4s, 3D, and 4D. We technically won 3 matches by default.
The rest of the flights had to play and they managed a 7-1win against Lakewood with the only loss being at 1s.
Now our next match against Williamston is a different story as everyone went out there with a goal to qualify for states and had to do so as a team. Powers put up quite a fight and it wasn’t enough. Most every flight split sets and went into tie breakers. Powers 1D and 2s managed to pull out a win, 3D went into 2 set tie breakers and lost both of them, 4D lost the first set in a tie breaker and lost the 2nd set 4-6. Our other flights fought as hard as they could but with no no victory. Powers final score and very last match was 2-6.
