Powers Catholic Varsity Volleyball defeated Frankenmuth Thursday in their 2019 season opener at home. With nine returning seniors, the Chargers were excited to take on the Eagles. The team won the first 3 games of the match.

Offensively, returning sophomore, Madison Gebhardt, led the team with 13 kills and 3 aces. Senior Mariah Brenz also contributed to the Charger offense with 5 kills and 24 assists. Other big time offensive contributors included seniors Gaby Clark (7 kills), Reilly Evans (6 kills), Madison Speer (4 kills), and McKenna Karlicheck (3 kills).

Defensively, Gebhardt also led along with senior Lexi Jaggi. Both had 8 digs while seniors Emma Clothier and Gaby Clark also each contributed 4. Junior and newcomer to the Varsity team, Ava Stravato, also contributed 4 digs to the Charger defense, while Evans (2 blocks) and Speer (1 block) put up some successful blocks against the Eagles.

Overall, it was both a successful and exciting night for the Chargers.
