The Powers Girls swimmers and divers had a strong fourth place showing at the highly competitive Saginaw Valley League Championships. Grand Blanc and Midland Dow took the top two spots, which was a predetermined outcome since schools have unlimited entries, giving large teams and large schools a huge advantage. With just 19 athletes in prelims and 12 in scoring positions at finals, Powers was edged out by Bay City John Glenn for 3rd by a minimal margin.
The Chargers crowned two individual league champions at the meet. Juniors Lara Wujciak and Abby Merz each took a first in their top event for the 3rd consecutive year. Wujciak broke her own meet and school record in the 100 fly and Merz posted a lifetime best in the 100 breast. Merz took 3rd in the 200 IM, while Wujciak placed 4th in the 100 back. Also returning on Saturday and placing in finals were the following:
Lauren Taylor (200 free-5th, 100 Fly-6th)
Emily Snyder (Diving-4th, 100 Fly-15th)
Katelyn Iordanou (200 Free-9th, 100 Free-12th)
Hannah Erpelding (100 Fly-9th, 100 Breast-12th)
Olivia Camara (100 breast-8th, 50 Free-16th)
Hannah Murawski (200 IM-12th, 100 Back-11th)
Emily Bhagat (50 Free-19th, 100 Free-19th)
Jill Lorf (Diving-11th)
Hannah Potochny (100 Fly-12th)
Abbie Britton (100 Breast-19th)
All three scoring relays also finished in the top 6. The 200 Medley Relay of Murawski, Merz, Wujciak and Taylor took fourth place, as did the 200 Free Relay with Wujciak, Merz, Taylor and Camara. The 400 Free Relay of Bhagat, Murawski, Camara, and Iordanou finished 6th.

Coming away with league recognition as First Team All-Conference were Abby Merz, Lauren Taylor and Lara Wujciak. Named to Second Team All-Conference were Hannah Erpelding, Katelyn Iordanou, and Emily Snyder. Receiving Honorable Mention was senior and captain Hannah Murawski.

Next up is the regional diving tournament for Emily Snyder and Jill Lorf on November 14th in St. Johns.
